Before I started sketching, I wrote down a rough outline of what this company's goals would be along with the feelings they would like to evoke through their brand. These would then go on to influence the art direction and the logo.
Since the name of the company is MANUVR, I wanted to play with concepts that show motion but could potentially feature shapes of common skating obstacles such as ramps and rails. Being very familiar with streetwear and skatewear, skate brands are kind of known to be abstract in their logos.
In terms of color choice, red, black, and white are common colors with similar brands; howevever, because my target audience was younger children and teens, I chose brighter, more welcoming colors influenced by the psychedelic art one would see on MTV animations in the 90s.
